3-Day Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Training

ABOUT THE TRAINING:

Who this training is for:

    • Teachers of any movement style or background.
    • Limited spots for Non-Teachers who are pregnant or want to learn how to support themselves or their loved ones through pregnancy and postpartum. (Inquire about availability)

Training Curriculum:

    • 3-Day Training offered in-person and live online
    • Daily Prenatal/Postnatal and Meditation Sessions.
    • Tailor poses for various needs and conditions during pregnancy.
    • Design class sequences for different types of prenatal and postnatal classes – relaxing to moderate to athletic.
    • Specific postpartum yoga practices that promote healing and support after childbirth, including vaginal birth, surgical birth, VBAC, and pregnancy loss.
    • Use yoga practices to relieve pain, discomfort, anxiety, depression that could accompany pregnancy and postpartum.
    • Understand the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum and apply that knowledge to help prenatal and postnatal students.
    • Help people connect emotionally, physically, and spiritually with themselves and use those connections to help prepare them for pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
    • Hands-On Assists Clinics – learn and practice enhancement, or supportive, or comfort measure techniques. No one technique works for everyone; adapt techniques that work best for the individual.
    • Sequencing Practicum for class sequence designs that can help bring relief to prenatal and postnatal people with certain conditions (e.g., pubic bone pain, back pain, swelling, nausea, blood pressure issues, fatigue, etc.).

Faculty:

Charlie Speller is the trainer of this event. Charlie is an authorized trainer of the 3-Day Poppy Perinatal Yoga Teacher Training. She is a bodyworker, Level 3 Forrest Yoga teacher and energy healer — having studied and worked as an assistant to Shaman, Esther Lim. Charlie specialises in helping people to get out of pain and to realise their potential. Her passion and commitment to teaching prenatal and postnatal yoga stems from experiences in her own pregnancy loss, subsequent pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Charlie worked with pelvic floor re-education specialists as part of her own re-habilitation and studied baby massage. EXPECTATIONS:

Requirements for receiving a certificate of completion: Attend all three in-person training days and successfully complete the training.

FAQs

This is an 85-Hour Registered Prenatal Yoga School (RPYS) with Yoga Alliance. If you would like to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT), you must complete the 9-day training (level 1 and 2) plus an additional ten hours of coursework after the training. Anyone who completes any level of Poppy training can gain continuing education credits from Yoga Alliance. If you only want continuing education credits, submit your certificate to Yoga Alliance USA for the credits.

Bring 2 blocks, a yoga strap, a yoga mat, and two blankets. If you have a large rectangular bolster (the length of your torso), please bring it. You will be putting your bolster to good use.

Yoga teaching certification isn’t regulated. Anyone can call themselves a yoga teacher, with or without training. The Poppy Perinatal Yoga Training curriculum provides you with foundational experience and knowledge to help you effectively teach yoga to pregnant and postpartum folx. You are welcome to designate yourself as a Certified Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Teacher after completing the Poppy Perinatal Yoga Training. To become an effective teacher, you must teach. Teaching is a practice, and mistakes become opportunities. The more mistakes you make and the more you learn from them, the wiser and more skillful you become.

After the training is over, you are invited to join our private Facebook group of global graduates of the Poppy Perinatal Yoga Training. This is a wonderful place to continue gathering and sharing knowledge.
